Interdisciplinary Child Evaluation Service (ICES)

Interdisciplinary Child Evaluation Service (ICES) is offered at our Singapore clinic or under our Visiting Consultants International (VCI) program at international locations.

Not only does ICES provides a holistic view of the child functional abilities and provide input towards prioritizing treatment goals and planning, families have the benefit of consulting with a team of experienced specialists in a coordinated visit rather than over several weeks or months.

What is Interdisciplinary Child Evaluation Service (ICES)?

Ovspring’s Interdisciplinary Child Evaluation Service (ICES) brings together a group of experienced professionals as a team to evaluate and co-treat so as to give a “snapshot” of a child’s development and functional abilities across speech and language, motor, behavioral and learning.

Interdisciplinary Child Evaluation Service (ICES) can be most helpful in gaining an integrated understanding of how multiple variables may be impacting a child’s functional performance and determine measurable outcomes as well as act as a baseline for functional abilities.

Who will benefit from this kind of Evaluation?

Children with developmental delay or neurological disorders such as autism, ASD, Global Developmental Delay, Speech Delay, Cerebral Palsy etc. These children may have different or many areas of concern requiring a team approach to diagnosis & management.

Other reasons for requesting an appointment under ICES could include:
•    Parents would like to have a second opinion on diagnosis;
•    Parents want an understanding on how to prioritise treatment;
•    Parents want a global view of his/her child’s abilities.

Families will benefit from being able to consult directly with the team of professionals in a coordinated way rather than separately with different professionals across many several days or even weeks.

What to expect from this Evaluation?

ICES capitalizes on a consortium of disciplines (medical, psychology, occupational therapy and speech language pathology) – professionals work in teams to evaluate and co-treat the child and interview parents / caregivers. This review and assessment process can range from a couple of days up to a week, depending on the complexity of the case.

Typically, a case history cum medical review accompanied by psychological, occupational, speech and language evaluations, are carried out according to the combination of concerns a child exhibits.

During the evaluation, clinical observation and interaction of the child by professionals and an interview with the parents will be conducted. The child’s case history and needs, as well as the parent’s plans and expectations for their child will be discussed.

Post-evaluation, parents meet the professional team to discuss the team’s observations and recommendations so as to plan for working towards realistic goals for the child. If so required, the team will recommend in-depth assessments into the specific areas of concern towards treatment planning.

An interdisciplinary report will be sent to you within 4 to 6 weeks. Please consult our case manager if there is any questions or clarifications about the process of evaluation.

Who is the Professional Team?

The experienced team of professionals comprises of a specialist Paediatrician, Educational Psychologist, Speech Language Pathologist and Occupational Therapist. Our professionals are trained in the USA, Australia and United Kingdom and have extensive experience working with children with developmental disabilities.
