Internship Opportunities
Ovspring offers internship opportunities to work in an inter-disciplinary setting with paediatricians, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech language therapist and case management professionals. Depending on available opportunities at the time of application, interns get to work with families, under supervision in various settings. In-clinic activities could include observing and assisting in group therapy programs, planning and coordinating parent support activities, assisting during interviews and needs analysis during the intake process as well as attend staff planning meetings. Off-site opportunities include participation in screening projects as well as coordinating continuing medical and allied health education activities run by Ovspring’s training division. A minimum commitment of between 4 to 8 weeks is required for an internship. The following are some ongoing projects where interns may be deployed: (a) Holiday sensory camp for children with learning difficulties and their siblings. Opportunity to help plan, structure and execute activities for children at various developmental ages and abilities. Camp assistants and counselors. (b) Screening program for early detection and treatment of a variety of developmental disorders. Administer and follow up on questionnaires to parents at a peadiatric clinic in order to track patients’ participation. Assist professionals during developmental assessments. (c) Speech-language screening for pre-schoolers. Assist off-site team in coordinating with external parties, parent education and screening processes. (d) Get an insight into case management activities. Intake and referral processes, as well as understanding clinical pathways to diagnosis. (e) Assisting in group therapy programs from preparation to execution.
Project list above is not exhaustive, and may depend on the programmes which are planned for term/quarter. Very often, internship can be combined with on-going training workshops run by Ovspring Institute. Internship stipends may vary, and housing is not usually provided, unless grant funding is obtained for specific projects. We welcome interest from local and overseas participants.
