G.R.A.S.P. ProgramParents and families on Ovspring's G.R.A.S.P. (Global Review of Ages & Stages in Paediatrics) developmental screening program have the benefit of assurance that their child's healthy development is being monitored. Screening provides an opportunity to describe a child's challenges, not to define a child. Without screening, parents will not be able to track a child's development. At every stage of G.R.A.S.P.'s screening process, parents have opportunity to open dialogue about concerns over a child's development with our Paediatrician and staff specialists in an informed manner. Children-at-risk, including premature babies or those placed under genetic risk, will benefit from the G.R.A.S.P. program. So how does G.R.A.S.P. work & how do I get my child into the program? Parents can choose to enroll their child into the G.R.A.S.P. program at any time but typically screenings will be done to coincide during well child visits at 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, 36 months. G.R.A.S.P. follows a 5-step screening process as follows: During well-baby routine visits or consultation, Step A. Our Paediatrician will make clinical observations of the child in interaction, communication and motor play and chart these milestones; Step B. Parent questionaires are completed and screening tools are employed for continuous surveilance; Step C. If there are concerns raised, our Paediatricians will consult with you as parents, with options for an in-depth Developmental Assessment, review with Staff Specialists &/or go along the Early Intervention route; Step D. Concurrently, a formal audiological and vision screening may be recommended to exclude any medical conditions; Step E. Depending on outcomes on investigation and consultation with parents, Formal Diagnostic Evaluations with multi-disciplinary staff specialists such as occupational therapist, speech language therapist or psychologist may be recommended. How much does it cost for my child to enroll? The G.R.A.S.P. developmental screening program is available to all babies and children under Ovspring's Immunisation and Well Child program, without additional charge. We do however, make request for parents and caregivers, to allow general, non-identifying data collected under the G.R.A.S.P. program to be made available for research that is advancing the study of early development and best practices in developmental screening and assessment.
