DIR®/Floortime™ Approach

Ovspring's therapists apply the DIR/Floortime Approach in therapy, to help children build healthy foundations for social, emotional, and intellectual capacities rather than focusing on skills and isolated behaviours. This approach is pioneered by Dr Stanley Greenspan and Serena Wieder, as a model for assessment and treatment programl for children with special needs to master the foundations for relating, communicating and thinking.

The DIR®/Floortime™ Model usually involves an interdisciplinary team approach, incorporated within speech therapy, occupational therapy and educational programs. The DIR®/Floortime™ Model also emphasizes the critical role of parents and other family members because of the importance of their emotional relationships with the child.

Ovspring clinicians received workshop and practicum training with ICDL faculty, Sherri Cawn, SLT and Beth Osten, OTR in 2009 in the DIR/Floortime model.
