Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy assessments at Ovspring centers on evaluation of children's functional performance skills, including activities of daily living, at home and school.

Skills targeted include gross motor (including balance, postural control and coordination), fine motor (including bilateral hand use, manipulation and dexterity), visual-perceptual and visual-motor difficulties, self care skills such as dressing and feeding, social skills and functional classroom skills such as handwriting.

School functional assessments, including classroom modification suggestions to help the child function optimally in the school environment are also offered. Consultations are available on splinting, adaptive equipment use, and enuresis / bed-wetting.

Approaches used will depend on the child and include:

- Floortime approach
- Neurodevelopmental Technique (Bobath)
- Oral-motor intervention
- Sound Therapy (Samonas)
- Vestibular-visual interventions
- The Alert Program
